I offer educational workshops for both adults and children, specializing in horticulture, worm farming, composting, and environmental education.

I work with councils, community gardens, schools, and libraries, providing engaging activities for all ages.

Based in Collingwood Park (4301), I'm a full-time commercial worm farmer and educator, certified as a Brisbane City Council Master Composter and TAFE-qualified Horticulture teacher.

Hi,

I’m Brian Donaldson, otherwise known as Brian The Worm Man.

I offer a variety of educational and environmental workshops, specializing in both adult training and children's activities.

For adults, my work spans numerous Council Programs, Community Gardens, Horticultural Organisations, and Clubs.

With children, I visit Childcare Centres, Kindys and Schools during term and also with OSHC/Holiday Care programs - providing fun and engaging educational activities for children.

Based at Collingwood Park (4301), I am a full-time commercial worm farmer and educator.

With extensive experience as both an adult trainer and children's activity provider, I am fully qualified to teach Horticulture at TAFE and hold certification as a Brisbane City Council Master Composter.

I collaborate with a range of organizations, including Garden Clubs, Community Gardens, Schools, Early Education programs, Building Developers, and many councils, such as:

Incursions (No Make-and-Take):

Option 1: Worm Farming Incursion - Worms, Composting & Waste Reduction
Perfect for children aged 2-12+. In this interactive session, children will learn about worms, composting, and waste reduction. Highlights include live worms and bugs, an informative talk about worm farms, and engaging explanations to keep kids captivated.

Option 2: Worm Dig and Discover Live Worm Experience – A Wiggly Worm Adventure
Ideal for kids aged 2-12, this hands-on event invites children to dig into worm bedding, count worms, and learn about their role in the environment. Brian the Worm Man leads this educational adventure, exploring live worms, worm eggs, and composting bugs.

Option 3: Special Bug Investigation – A Hands-On Adventure
For kids aged 2-12+, this session includes hands-on exploration of the insect and worm world. Highlights include a live stick insect display, magnified bug investigation, and a chance to dig for worms and learn how bugs support composting systems.

Incursions With Make-and-Take:

Option 4: Racing Worms – Craft, Race, Learn!
Perfect for kids aged 3+, this creative activity combines worm crafts with a racing challenge. Children will decorate their own racing worm, then race them while learning about composting, waste reduction, and recycling.

Option 5: Little Worm Farmers: Draw, Learn & Discover!
Ideal for children aged 3+, this activity lets kids create a nature-inspired worm farm drawing. Highlights include seeing live worms and bugs, learning about waste reduction, and taking home their completed art with a fun activity sheet.

Option 6: Grass Head Pets: Create Your Own Living Hair Pet!
For kids aged 3+, this activity involves decorating a pet cup and planting grass "hair." Children will care for their pet at home, watching the hair grow and cutting it after a few weeks. All materials and instructions are provided.

Option 7: Make a Mini Worm Farm: Create & Care for Your Own Live Worms!
Perfect for kids aged 3+, this hands-on activity allows children to create their own mini worm farm, complete with live worms. They'll learn about sustainability, composting, and how to care for their worm farm at home.
