Roderick McLeod is a versatile Kora player, drummer, percussionist and instrument maker based in the Yarra Valley, Melbourne, Australia. With a deep-rooted passion for West African and Ambient music, Roderick has traveled extensively throughout Senegal and Mali, studying traditional drumming and the Kora—a 21-string West African harp—under the guidance of master musicians. His immersive learning experiences inform his unique sound, blending the rhythms and melodies of West Africa with contemporary influences.
Roderick actively engages in a diverse range of artistic projects, collaborating with musicians, dancers, and visual artists to create innovative, cross-cultural performances.

We had the pleasure of having Roderick play the kora harp during our wedding lunch in the city, it truly made the experience unforgettable. His music created such a magical atmosphere - our guests all commented on how beautiful and special it felt. Not only is he incredibly talented, but he was also humble, professional and organised throughout the entire time which we appreciated during such a busy time. We were quite nervous being infront of so many people and all over the place on the day haha, but he brought such a calming presence that really helped us relax and enjoy the moment. We’re so grateful he was part of our day and couldn’t recommend him more highly!! Thank you Roderick! :)

Two 45-minute sets. This performance will blend rich traditional melodies with innovative contemporary compositions, showcasing the instrument’s versatility and timeless beauty. Roderick is also available to facilitate drum circles for events, He can provide up to 60 Djembes.

I have my own small P.A and Lights (Suitable for up to 80-100 people). I need about 45 minutes prior to performing to set up.
Please call to talk about your thoughts/ Ideas. I'm open to anything (mostly). I also play with many other musicians (Violinist, Flute players, Singers etc) If you would like a duo, trio etc. I also facilitate drum circles too.
I have all the relevant public liability to perform at any event.
