With more than four decades of live performance experience, Liam Buchanan delivers authentic, engaging performances that connect with audiences across Queensland’s regional, rural, and coastal venues.
A highly experienced musician, Liam performs as a solo artist featuring vocals, acoustic guitar, harmonica, and loop station/stomp box, supported by a full professional PA setup. His versatile repertoire spans classic rock, reggae, pop, country, acoustic favourites, and original material, allowing him to adapt seamlessly to pubs, clubs, festivals, private events, and community functions.
Since launching his current solo act in mid-2025, Liam has performed more than 30 live shows throughout Queensland, earning consistently positive feedback from venue owners, staff, and audiences alike — leading to regular return bookings.
Liam has been playing guitar for over 43 years and performing live for more than 40 years in a wide range of musical settings including acoustic duos, electric bands, and solo performances. While guitar is his primary instrument, he is also proficient on bass, keyboards, and drums, giving him a well-rounded and dynamic musical approach.
A major career highlight came in 1992 when Liam performed with the band Big Tuna, winners of the Queensland final of the JJJ Campus Band Competition (now the National Campus Music Competition). The band progressed to the Australian final at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre, performing before more than 2,000 people. One of the band’s live tracks received national airplay on Triple J, and later that year the group supported iconic Australian band Spy vs Spy in Brisbane.
In 1996, Liam joined the KISS tribute act The Gods of Thunder, performing as Gene Simmons on bass guitar. The band headlined three consecutive annual KISS conventions in Brisbane with full costume and makeup productions that became fan favourites among the Australian KISS community.
Alongside an extensive covers catalogue, Liam has written more than 200 original songs, several of which are featured during his live performances to enthusiastic audience response.
