Joel Temperly (that's me, the guy who wrote this!) is a very funny stand-up comedian.
While Melbourne-born, bred and based, Joel cut his comedy teeth in the free speech haven of China. After getting cancelled (ok, his visa expired, but he insists he was "too real" for them) he gigged in Vietnam and Singapore as part of an 'Eat Pray Love'-type journey, before washing up in Melbourne in 2019.
Since then he's done shows at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival and Perth's Fringeworld.
But wait! There's more....
He's also mastered the ancient art of trivia hosting, helming many a pub quiz across the city.
So, stand-up or trivia? Either way, Joel's your guy!

Stand-up comedy: I highly recommend having a look at the videos I've uploaded, so to give an idea of what to expect. My material probably does veer toward the edgier/darker end of the spectrum, but I wouldn't say I'm a dark or dirty comedian by any stretch. I'm also happy to adapt to the event; if there are any 'no-go' areas, I'm more than happy to adjust my performance accordingly.
Main thing is we all have a good time! :-)
Trivia: I would need as many details as possible from the organiser, such as number of attendees, theme (if any), desired length, degree of difficulty, cause (eg. charity, team-building, etc). I would also need a bit of time to appropriately prepare the content.
In terms of style, while I lessen the amount of jokes (quick game's a good game. Plus, you're there to have fun with your mates; me interrupting all the time won't help with that!) it is along similar lines to my stand-up style: a lot of banter, poking fun at any howlers, and some (admittedly pre-prepared) quips and fun facts about the answers.
These are the categories of entertainment or other services offered by Joel Temperly: comedian, trivia host, mc.
Comedy: You provide: microphone, appropriate sound set-up and lighting. I do have access to mic, lead, a small spotlight, and a (pretty weak) PA. So, if you really want to make a show happen but don't have any of the stuff mentioned above, I could help...but ideally, I just bring the funnies.
Trivia: same as above, only I also bring the question sheets and pens.
