Gene Phoa is an ex-advertising copywriter turned singer, songwriter and producer. Leaving his former career to search for his “true calling”, Gene rediscovered his childhood passion for music at an open mic night while backpacking through India.
Since then, Gene has taken out the lyrics award at the SCALA Festival of Original Music (2019), debuted his acoustic rom-com ‘500 Nights of Winter’ at the Adelaide Fringe (2021) and shared his story with hundreds of others at the Adelaide Convention Centre, Nexus Arts and UniSA.
Drawing from his journey, Gene pairs a luminous voice with heartfelt storytelling and guitar-driven anthems to inspire audiences along a journey of their own.
